VAPE 2011

March 25, 2011

I’m Daniel and I will be facilitating the VAPE mural during the Grahamstown Arts Festival 2011. What I want to do is challenge all you who will be working alongside me on the VAPE to make yourself and your creative capacity known on this blog! Let’s turn this space into a massive archive of work and ideas. The goal is to work together to conceptualize this collaborative mural digitally before any paint gets put down. Hopefully after enough blogging we can put something together that will stimulate the visual and intellectual faculties of passers – by:  both during the Fest and for years afterward.

Presently I am looking at possible locations for the mural. I have systematically worked through this town with a fine toothed comb and have come across some delicious walls that all promise the same thing: lots of space. We will have room to get loose.

Attached is the mural work I have done in G Town so far. The orange/red ones are both in the Location which straddles Grahamstown. One is at a Soup Kitchen and the other is at a Kids Home. The blue one is in Grahamstown proper and I worked on it during the festival last year.

Expect photos of the wall which we will be painting as soon as it has been decided upon.

So let us get to it. Any ideas, any doodles, any opinions are welcome.
